I'm psyched that the Interior Department Way-Finding panels were installed last week during the great springy weather in DC. The project included shooting 2 panoramic images (East and South) of the spectacular view of Washington as seen from the terrace of the Main Interior Department Building near 19th and Constitution Ave. I also provided turnkey project management coordinating design, fabrication, and installation.
Bobbi Kittner, talented graphic designer (and my dear wife too) provided the design service. The images are printed on porcelain by Winsor Fireform, the same company that made the Newseum way-finding panels. Winsor's process to bake the image and text into porcelain must be magic because the images are so rich and vibrant (makes you want to just eat them up)...plus they can be exposed to the elements for decades without fading or other problems. Dan Lloyd and his New Visions museum installation team installed the panels.
By the way, the photo of me on the masthead of this blog was made by my assistant on the job, Mike Starghill, while I was shooting the panoramas.
