The New Avenue
You may have seen, or will see, this campaign on Metro buses and bus stops around the DC area touting "The New Ave." I shot a series of portraits featuring an amazing variety of business owners, workers, and patrons of the New Hampshire Avenue crossroads area in Takoma Park, MD as part of the city's economic development push for the area. Mom and Pop shops with people from all around the globe (Africa, The Caribbean, India, and many South American countries) inhabit this area just outside the DC line and inside the beltway. Within these couple of miles you truely can hear and catch a glimpse of people and products from all over the world. It was fun to interact and photograph such a wide variety of people. I have several photos from the project in the "people" portfolio on my website kittner.com. You can also find out more about the area at: http://thenewave.com.
